Daoyin is the ancient shamanic practice of daoist yoga. It is the foundation of traditional Chinese medicine, martial arts, and spiritual cultivations. Yin Yoga as seen in the US is derived from this much larger spectrum of Daoyin. This training will explore the foundations of Daoyin and its implications in Yin Yoga.
We will explore the anatomy of the body’s connective tissue (tendons, ligaments, fascia), the energetic system through the lens of Daoyin (chi, meridians, intent, purging of pathogenic energy), how meditation is incorporated, and the major poses of Yin Yoga. We will cover how poses can be adapted for less flexible bodies or injuries, and how to practice safely without over-stretching. Therapeutic applications of Yin Yoga will be explored, including how to design classes that address ailments, seasonal strategies and energy imbalances through the meridians.
This training is capped at 20 students.
