Introduction to Rocket Ashtanga ($30) – Friday, 6:00-8:00 PM
Explore a different side of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga lineage. The Rocket was created and popularized by the late Larry Schultz who is known as “Guru of the Dead” in reference to him being the yoga teacher for the Grateful Dead. Join David Kyle for a nighttime flow class that is designed to wake you up and give you juice for the rest of the night so you can start your weekend off right. This class puts all the base postures of the Rocket System into one class! With options for variations and deeper transitions, David will be working with more demonstration of intermediate and advanced transitions for students. Get ready to ride the Rocket!

Rocket Ashtanga 2 ($30) – Saturday, 12:00-1:30 PM
The Rocket Ashtanga 2 sequence develops strength and flexibility in the body and tests the boundaries of your mind! This class is for both advanced practitioners and beginners; David Kyle will be offering modifications for beginners and variations for advanced students. Be prepared to witness how much potential can be discovered from inside you as the Rocket unfolds the samsara!

Ashtanga Inversions Workshop ($40) – Saturday, 4:00-6:00 PM
Learn all 20 inversions of the Rocket Ashtanga series flow. David Kyle will break down postures like bakasana, koundinyasana, headstand, forearm stand, handstand, one-leg crow, no-leg crow, lolasana, and more!

Rocket Ashtanga 1 ($30) – Sunday, 7:00-8:30 PM
This class will uplift your vitality to encourage a clear-headed and enthusiastic view of life! The Rocket was created and popularized by the late Larry Schultz. As Larry always said, “You’re stronger than you think you are!” This is the primary series going to seated postures in a slow, deliberate pace while working the foundation and core strengthening. Join Kyle David as he offers a unique perspective on this classic series, influenced by his direct tutelage with Larry.

David C. Kyle is owner of the Ashtanga Yoga Puerto Rico shala and founder of the Progressive Ashtanga movement that honors the traditional practice of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and embraces the revolutionary views of Larry Schultz.

David’s teaching style is easygoing and carries a strong physical foundation with a philosophical approach to Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga. The dynamic structure of Ashtanga yoga sequencing demands a lot of courage; David Kyle creates a sense of lightheartedness in this practice while maintaining a sense of graceful composure. Specific detail to breath and movement coordination is always a main focus in David’s classes, which provides a sense of safety and control for the practitioner. David’s teaching brings a sense of ease into the subtle teachings of yoga and the experience of finding perfection no matter where we are. David offers modifications and variations to create an all-inclusive practice – yoga is for everyone!

David has been facilitating the Rocket Yoga practice for 10 years. Rocket Yoga is the non-traditional derivative of Ashtanga that has been attached to Larry Schultz’s sequencing when he re-arranged the primary and secondary series of Ashtanga. Postures were either modified or removed to keep the flow of the class easy for beginners. Creativity being an obvious ingredient in the Rocket sequences, it is possible to see many different forms of the Rocket 1, 2, and 3, but there is a fixed foundation that is followed by all certified teachers. This also allows the practice to be made more advanced and/or physically challenging by adding in transitional techniques (often referred to as “floating and flying”) or variations to the traditional postures.
